Linear Equation Two Variable5

Linear Equation Two Variable5 consists of answers for level 3.

LEVEL - 3

 1. Solve the equation using the method of substitution.

                               3x - 5y = -1
                               x - y = -1

Solution:-

                              3x -5y = -1           -----------(1)

                              x - y = -1
                              x = y - 1               -----------(2)

     Plug (2) in (1) , We get,

                             3(y - 1) - 5y = -1
                             3y - 5y - 3 = -1
                             -2y = 3-1
                             -2y = 2
                             y = -1

     Plug the 'y' value in (2), We get,

                             x = -1 - 1
                             x = -2

Therefore x = -2 and y = -1 .

2. Solve the equations:

                             \(\frac{1}{2x} - \frac{1}{y} = -1\)
                             \(\frac{1}{x} + \frac{1}{2y} = 8\)

Solution:-

                                            \(\frac{1}{2x} - \frac{1}{y} = -1\)       ---------(1)
                             \(\frac{1}{x} + \frac{1}{2y} = 8\)       ---------(2)

         (2)*\(\frac{1}{2}\) , We get,

                             \(\frac{1}{2x} + \frac{1}{4y} = 4\)     ---------(3)

      (3) + (2), We get,

                             \(\frac{1}{2x} + \frac{1}{4y} = 4\)

\(\frac{1}{2x} - \frac{1}{y} = -1\)
                            (-)
