c) $$x^{2}$$ + 8 = 28

Solution:-

$$x^{2}$$ + 8 = 28

Subtracting 8 on both sides we get,

$$x^{2}$$ = 20

x = $$\pm \sqrt{20}$$

x = $$\pm \sqrt{2*2*5}$$                                $$(\because 20 = 2*2*5)$$

x = $$\pm 2\sqrt{5}$$

d) $$-5x^{2}$$ = -500

Solution :-

$$-5x^{2}$$ = -500

Dividing -5 on both sides we get,

$$x^{2}$$ = 100

x = $$\pm \sqrt{100}$$

x = $$\pm \sqrt{10*10}$$                                $$(\because 100 = 10*10)$$

x = $$\pm 10$$
